10 Fuel Saving Tips
10 Fuel Saving Tips
1. Service your car regularly! The more efficiently an engine runs the less fuel it consumes.
2. Ensure fuel cap is fully tightened; this reduces the risk of fuel evaporating due to outside heat.
3. Drive more smoothly by avoiding rapid acceleration and hard braking
4. Check tyre pressures regularly, under inflated tyres create more rolling resistance which causes higher fuel consumption.
5. Stick to the speed limit, the faster you go the more fuel your car will use!
6. Be smart with air conditioning - remember using the air conditioning reduces your cars fuel consumption considerably. You should also get your air con serviced regularly, if not it can put a strain on the compressor resulting in higher fuel consumption.
7. Remove any unnecessary weight, your car will need to use more fuel to haul the unnecessary weight.
8. Reduce resistance by keeping windows closed when driving at speed and taking off your roof rack or bike rack when you are not using it.
9. Plan ahead when making long journeys, it can help you avoid congestion, roadwork's and save you from getting lost!
10. Avoid short journeys if you can, a cold engine uses twice as much fuel!
