Who are the courses suited to?

Well, all road users, whether you are a professional or racing driver, newly qualified, nervous driver, or simply want to improve your car control skills or may be you don’t fit into any of those categories and would like to just come along for some fun, excitement and tyre smoking action!  We offer gift vouchers for friends and family members, for all special occasions including birthdays and Christmas.

We also offer skid pan training, defensive driver training and eco driving for companies and exciting on track experiences for teambuilds / corporate entertainment, just call if you think this would be of interest to your company or visit our website www.strdrivertraining.co.uk.

What courses do we offer?

• First Drive Experience

This under 17 driving lesson offers you the opportunity to develop your driving skills before you even have your provisional licence - why wait until you are 17 - experience a junior driving experience!  As long as you're 15 or over and at least 4" 10 inches you can get behind the wheel in a relaxed atmosphere.  This will help you feel more confident about starting your driving lessons and help you to progress more rapidly towards your driving test.  The driving experience will teach the basics - how to start, stop and change gear - with an advanced driving instructor at your side, as well as gaining confidence in an open space.  There will be up to two other people on this experience with you and you will be at the venue for around 2 and half hours, including approximately 35 minutes of driving time.

• Skid Pan / Car Control Experience (Course 1)

This is one of our most popular courses.  Have you ever lost control of your car or felt uneasy about a loved one driving in the rain or snow?  Our skid pan training will help to keep you in control of your car and is also great fun!  This unique course offers you the opportunity to develop advanced skid control skills, alongside our expert instructors.  You will lose and regain car control to develop your understeer and oversteer skills - loss of front end car control and rear end car control in our on road cars.

We do not use a skid simulator, as we do not believe that it gives you a true experience or representation of losing and regaining car control.  Moreover to maximise your time in the car, our course focuses primarily on the practical aspects of controlling a car in a skid, in small groups, but we also discuss the theoretical aspects, as well as basic vehicle dynamics.

This is a great course if you simply want to have some fun whilst developing your confidence and advance driving skills which will help you to survive on today's roads, particularly with the adverse weather conditions Britain typically encounters.  Once you've attended this course, you can book onto Drifting and then progress to on-track training.  Enjoy some tyre smoking action with us, go on spin your dream!

What happens on the day?

For all courses we have an initial drivers’ safety briefing, where we introduce you to the instructors, the cars, health and safety for the event and then you are allocated to your groups to take part in your exciting driving session.  We will run with only one instructor per group, which allows you to get to know him and feel relaxed and confident in your driving abilities.  The skid pan / car control course has a maximum of 8 people per instructor whereas first drive is on a three-to-one ratio.  We try to give you as much time available as possible, which is shared out amongst the other drivers per session.  We can’t give exact times, but in comparison to other courses, this really is value for money and we try to keep groups small.  Then we wrap up with certificates and a trophy to one lucky driver!

Where is the venue?

The courses tend to take place in and around Norfolk at local airfields.  Once you have confirmed a booking, we will, nearer the course date, send directions in the post / email.

Are gift vouchers available and how do they work?

Our gift experiences make perfect birthday, anniversary and Christmas gifts.  Choosing a special gift can be so time consuming, so let us help take all the stresses away by simply sending out a gift voucher to you today to present on that special day.  Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and we will contact you a maximum of three times to get you booked on.  Simply decide which experience you are interested in, complete the booking form and call to make payment and then we'll contact the driver (when appropriate) to book them onto the course.  Alternatively, if you really can’t decide which course to go for, then purchase a blank gift voucher and the recipient can decide which course to do!

How much are the courses and how do I pay?

• First Drive Experience - £89.95 (allow 2.5 hours at the venue)
• Skid Pan / Car Control - £139 for a half day session (am or pm)

Bookings are only taken on a “first come first served” basis (and can only be confirmed when a booking form and payment is received in full).  Because of demand for places, we cannot guarantee either a morning or an afternoon session.  All sessions are offered on specific dates in the year, which are advertised on our website:  www.str.gb.com / www.strdrivertraining.co.uk.

Can I bring guests with me?

Yes guests are very much welcome, although we do charge a small fee (per person) to cover the cost of refreshments (teas, coffees, softdrinks and biscuits) and to keep our driving course prices low.  Guests will also have to sign in at security, but please do not bring pets!

What next?

Just complete your booking form, read and sign the terms and conditions of booking and send it to us with your payment and we will then issue you with a gift voucher by return (if applicable).  Once we have a firm date, we will phone to check availability of the driver and then send by email, final booking details.
